California Democratic Party Convention: Live Updates

Fourteen Democratic presidential candidates will be speaking in San Francisco this weekend before 5,000 delegates and activists at the California Democratic Party convention, the largest state political party in America. The convention has a history as a turning point in the Democratic race, from Howard Dean's 2003 “Democratic wing of the Democratic Party” speech, to a surrogate face-off in 2008 between President Bill Clinton and a young DA (speaking for Barack Obama) by the name of Kamala Harris. Prospect executive editor David Dayen is on the ground in San Francisco, and he will be providing live updates of the convention and associated candidate activities in the Bay Area throughout the weekend, at our Twitter feed. American journalism’s most acclaimed program for young writers and reporters has openings for our 2019-2021 fellowships. 

The Prospect is looking for two young talents who want to be part of the most storied and successful writing fellowship program in American journalism. For the past quarter-century, the Prospect ’s two-year Writing Fellows Program has enabled young writers to develop their skills under an intensive mentoring program that is widely regarded as one of the foremost springboards to fulfilling and impactful careers in journalism and the academy.
